Today, 29 March, is definitely a day that is super important but not widely celebrated.  National Mom & Pop Business Owners Day honors all small business owners that are a vital part of our United States economy.  I imagine that many other countries have a similar experience.  These businesses are sometimes known as the “salt of the earth” and the “backbone of the economy”.

During this COVID-19 pandemic, nearly all businesses are feeling the pressure of the “shelter-at-home” reality setting in.  This is especially challenging for small businesses.  We will get through this crisis but certainly not without being negatively impacted in some way.  It’s my prayer that our vital small businesses will persevere and that we all do what we can to support local businesses during this pandemic.

I’ve always admired the tenacity and passion that “Mom and Pop” businesses must have to succeed.  My grandfather started an auto-truck storage company in Chicago in the 1950’s, and now, it’s a second-generation family-run business.  I’ve seen how much time, dedication, plain old hard work, and sacrifices are required to make it grow and prosper.  I’ve developed an even greater appreciation of it over the past few years as I became an entrepreneur and started my own business as a voice actor.  I’ve learned so much, and there have been many struggles (and I’m sure there’ll be more), but I’m grateful for the inspiring stories of others who have taken this journey before me.

If you aren’t a small business owner, please find ways to support those in your community who are, especially during these challenging times.  Many of you may have been in their position at one time.

If you do run a small business, or you’re in the process of getting a start-up up and running, I want to help you share your story with your community.  With the benefits of technology, there are many ways to get your message “out there” so people know what you do and how you can help them.

*You can create commercials and promo videos for radio, TV, and the Internet (your website, YouTube channel, social media, etc.).

*You can create explainer videos so customers and clients understand how your product or service works and how it can help them.

*You can create a professional IVR / phone messaging system that supports your brand and gives your customers a personal and engaging experience.

It’s essential to have a voice that represents your passion and commitment to your company and the people you serve.  I will work with you to understand that passion and to communicate your story in a way that makes you proud.
I am grateful for your strong work ethic and the invaluable contribution you make to our economy.  Thank you for your inspiration, and please let me know how I can support you.
